What’s next?

I completed a 2-day “ultra-marathon-type” race this weekend where you run 48 miles over the course of 48 hours: The Goggins 4x4x48

It was grueling but I overall enjoyed the challenge, especially after getting some sleep.

I have run a regular marathon and done other various physical challenges, always trying to maintain some novelty and keep myself interested.

In the final hours of my challenge, I thought, “well, what’s next?”

At the time, I meant this question as how will I escalate this, what crazy idea will I have next that could lead to losing more sleep and higher risk of injury.

But later on, I took it as, “what’s next for me, what opportunities, challenges, exciting adventures lie ahead?”

The mindset shift here lies with fear.

What’s next, if said in a fearful way, leads to contemplating a scary future, plummeting to the depths of the unknown.

If it’s said with love and excitement, it’s a bright horizon full of promise. Sure there may be failures or pain, but all in the sake of wringing every last bit out of our time here.

What’s next for you?
