What to do about Summer Overwhelm

Summer overwhelm is upon us.

The FOMO, the events, friends, family, vacations are all colliding with the regular daily life.

My job as a parent is to stay present and not get caught up in it.

I love the summer festival and the special events in our city.

I want my kids to see it all.

But there’s no way to do everything.

I have to embrace what’s available and give up the rest.

Somebody on here shared the term JOMO, or the joy of missing out.

The idea being, love the thing you are doing and forget the rest.

Today, we wandered in the woods, climbed some logs and played catch with a Velcro ball thing.

Then we sat on our deck playing music.

I loved it all.

My plan this summer will be to take joy in what we’re doing, add in what we can, and forget the rest.
